How I work

I am able to offer an open-ended counselling service to my clients according to their own individual needs. Some people benefit from short-term work, whereas others may require longer-term support. This is all taken in to consideration at our initial meeting, where together we can discuss your hopes and expectations for the counselling work and decide if I am the right therapist for you. I am able to work with a range of difficulties, for example:

Anxiety

Depression

Bereavement & loss

Relationship problems

Low self esteem/lack of confidence

Addiction

Abuse

Phobias

Trauma

My private practice is located in Crawley, West Sussex. My premises offer a comfortable, clean space in which to explore your worries safely and in confidence. I hold professional liability insurance and I am DBS checked.

My commitments to my clients

Confidentiality

As part of my adherence to the BACP ethical framework, all counselling sessions with my clients remain strictly confidential. There are certain instances however when confidentiality may need to be broken and a third party would need to be involved. For example, a disclosure of harm to self or another person may result in a break in confidentiality. I am also legally bound to break confidentiality if requested to do so by a UK Court of Law. In all circumstances regarding breaches to confidentiality, I would always endeavour where possible to discuss this with my clients in the first instance.

I ensure that client data and personal information is taken and stored securely and appropriately in accordance with GDPR. I work in line with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) guidance.

Supervision

It is a requirement as a BACP registered member that I receive at least 1.5 hours of professional supervision each month. During these sessions I may wish to discuss details of my client work. I remain respectful of my client’s anonymity by only using their first name and by not disclosing any other personal identifiable information.

CPD

To ensure I am able to provide the best possible service to my clients, I am committed to keeping my skills and knowledge up-to-date by partaking in regular continuing professional development (CPD), such as reading, researching, attending courses/training, collaborating with colleagues and continually monitoring my own personal wellbeing for fitness to practice.
